Where the money comes from
- Homeowners. The Quote Check, your report and the Guides are free. No catches, no upsell. If demand ever outgrows what Darren can check for free, paid reviews may come, and the price would be clear before you send anything.
- Businesses pay us for work: Energy assessments, evidence reviews and written briefings. Never for opinions about Homeowners.
- The Installers Directory is one way we earn. A listing buys visibility, never a verdict. You contact them; they can never contact you.
- SEE Recruitment (opening soon) is free for people looking for work, always. Employers may pay for extra visibility later, clearly labelled and never for a verdict. Nothing is charged today, and the never-list below still applies.
- Adverts. Some pages may carry one clearly labelled “Ad”. Never on verdicts, never on the quote journey, never on safety advice.
- One day, perhaps, an optional supporter tier. It’s mentioned here so you never have to wonder whether it appeared quietly.

We never sell leads. We never tender or bid for remedial work. No one can buy a Verified stamp. We never sell your data. No affiliates. No insurance products. No group-buy brokering. No programmatic ads. Never.
Public money
Councils, and research funding
We accept commissioned public work: councils and housing associations paying us to give their residents free advice. Innovation or research funding only under written conditions: disclosed the day it lands, funders never near verdicts, no funder branding on verdict content.
Our rule: a way of earning that isn’t on this page doesn’t launch.
